Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) is a petroleum refinery company in India that was established in 1988 and is located in Katipalla, north of Mangalore. MRPL is a division of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), which is owned by the Government of India’s Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
MRPL is a Category 1 schedule ‘A’ Miniratna, Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE). It was originally a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Indian Rayon and Industries Limited (IRIL), but ONGC acquired MRPL in March 2003.
MRPL’s subsidiaries include: ONGC Mangalore Petrochemicals Limited, Shell MRPL Aviation Fuels and Services Limited, and Shell-MRPL Aviation Fuel Services Pvt Ltd.
MRPL has recently become India’s first refinery to receive the aerospace standard 9100_D Certification. (as on 15-03-2024).
