MSTC Limited (formerly Metal Scrap Trade Corporation Limited) is a central public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Steel, Government of India. It was incorporated on September 9, 1964, and became a subsidiary of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) in 1974. In 1982-83, it became an independent Government of India company, with the President of India taking over SAIL’s shares. MSTC Limited is involved in diversified e-commerce services, including domestic and international trading. It specializes in international trade of ferrous input materials, such as imported millions of tons of ferrous melting scrap, old ships for breaking, Sponge Iron, Hot Briquetted Iron, and Re-rollable Scrap. It also exports thousands of tons of ferrous scrap and jute products.
MSTC Limited’s corporate office is in Kolkata, West Bengal, with regional branch offices in various other cities. The Government of India has 64.75% share holding in the company.
