United Breweries Limited (UBL) is a company that manufactures and distributes alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in India. UBL is the market leader in India’s beer industry, with a 54% market share. The company’s flagship brand is Kingfisher, which has won many awards at international beer festivals and is available in 69 countries. UBL’s other brands include Kingfisher Strong, Kingfisher Ultra, Heineken, Heineken Silver, Amstel, Heineken 0.0, and Radler.
UBL has 21 own breweries and 10 contract units across India. The company markets its products through restaurants, bars, pubs, clubs, and star hotels. UBL also organizes food and music festivals and sporting events to supply beer.
UBL is a subsidiary of Heineken NV, which holds a roughly 40% share in the company. UB Group Chairman Vijay Mallya holds a stake of about 36%.
